GREENVILLE, PA - June 28, 2010 - Knievel Custom Cycles LLC today announced that its custom motorcycles have received the European Communities Whole Vehicle Type Approval as well as the Asian Approval from Korea. To secure these certifications, Knievel Cycles had to meet or exceed European Union 03 emission standards, greatly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The first two bikes with European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval certification are the Evel One Springer Bobber and Evel Commemorative Bobber. A third bike is pending certification expected in October 2010. All of the certified Knievel Motorcycles deliver over 70 horsepower from an 80 cubic inch engine, which is tremendous power to be experienced in the comfort of an ultimately smooth ride. "Since launching Knievel Motorcycle Manufacturing, our mission has been to make custom motorcycles that are truly worthy of the Knievel name," said Greg Zappala, chairman and president of Knievel Cycles. "While offering EU-03 emission certification, we have been successful in inverting horsepower to engine size ratio with only minor production modifications delivering a clean-burning, high-performance output. This collegiate effort along with European distribution has been a large focus of the Company's planning and development efforts for a period of time. After successful completion of EU-03 certification, we began investigating new market opportunities and with this announcement I am very excited indeed to have the opportunity to work with distinguished Colleges and Universities throughout the United States promoting our product, added Zappala." EU-03 regulations, the most stringent in the world today, limit three harmful by-products of internal combustion motors: hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOX) and carbon monoxide (CO).
